The miliboo international Professional Photography Competition 2023

The conductor of this International Photography Competition is Hubei miliboo Group Co., Ltd, China. (“miliboo”)
 
Judgement of the works:
Head judge is Collins Ryàn – L’artiste, Auckland, New Zealand (“Collins Ryàn – L’artiste”)
 
Submission – entry amount and image/video dates:
Photographers must submit a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of five (5) images taken in the period of 1^st of January 2022 and 1^st of September 2023, per category. The video category can accept ONLY one (1) video clip.  
 
Last day of submission:
The entries must be uploaded by 31^st of December 2023, at 12md (Auckland/Wellington Time Zone). Late entries will strictly NOT be allowed.
 
Submission method:
All entries must be accompanied by a description on the dedicated Facebook page.
 
Original images/video:
Please note that if you enter the Professional competition, you must not use the same photographs you have already used or will have used in other competitions – either national or international ones in the period of 2022 to 2023. In case that the organisers of the competition understand that the winners have submitted their winning entries in ANY other photo competition during 2022 to 2023, the winner in question MUST return the prize to miliboo, including shipping costs that were made by miliboo in order to send the prize to the winner. In such case, miliboo and Collins Ryàn – L’artiste will then publicly and officially announce the revocation of the winning spot by you, and announce a new winner based on the next best image in the competition.
 
Copyrights and competition promotion:
This competition supports the protection of the image/video copyrights of the photographers who submit their work. The photo entries MUST be completely copyrighted to the entry submitters. miliboo and Collins Ryàn – L’artiste will not have the copyrights of the images.
However, by submitting your images in this competition you acknowledge both miliboo and Collins Ryàn – L’artiste that your images can be published in the future, both online and in printed media, in regard to this competition promotion and results. If miliboo and/or Collins Ryàn – L’artiste presume that one or more of your images should be part of the promotion of this competition and/or part of the winning images promotion, then you acknowledge your unequivocal agreement to use your image/s and/or video. In this regard, no monetary compensation will be given to any submitter of images in this open, international competition.
 
Usage of data:
By entering the Competition, similarly to other open competitions, You agree and acknowledge that both miliboo and Collins Ryàn – L’artiste are permitted to receive your registration data for the purposes of acknowledging you on your the progress of the competition, or in other marketing communication/s. Winners will only be acknowledged by the Facebook profile name that You supply when submitting the photo/video entries. Following to our communication with the winners, the winners must send us their details for delivery, and prove their identity as per the Facebook profile.

 
 
 
Participating audience:
The Competition is free to enter:

1. by both amateur and professional photographers,
2. internationally 
3. entrant’s age – must be 18 years or older only, by 31^st of December 2023.
4. The competition is based on the Facebook platform, and hence the submission rules must also conform with the Facebook posting rules. For more details find the rules on www.Facebook.com  

 
 
Prize shipping regions:
Before adding any entry to the competition, kindly verify that your country of residence is permitting incoming packages from Mainland China. In such case where your country of residence does not accept incoming packages from Mainland China, you MUST supply to miliboo within three working days of the time that miliboo contacts with you about the issue and specify the exact address in an alternative address in a country that does accept incoming shipment from Mainland China. A proof of address in your alternative address MUST include your name. The prize is not transferable.
If you fail to either supply such alternative address or answer after the designated time (three working days), your winning place will be revoked and given to the next best image submitter. You acknowledge that You understand that the decision of miliboo will be finite.  
 
Rules:
By entering the Competition, You hereby accept these Competition Rules and the Terms and Conditions.

3. Image Entry criteria:
   1. Digital only:
      This competition is ONLY for digital photography. Due to the inability to perform physical check of the negative films, Film photography entries may not enter.
   2. RAW files to be sent by the winners:
      Although the submission of photos onto the Facebook platform can be only with JPG/JPEG format, you MUST make sure that all your original images have been taken in a RAW format on your camera. The announced winners of the competition WILL have to send miliboo and/or Collins Ryàn – L’artiste a copy of the original RAW file in order to verify the entire information data of the file and also that no substantial post-editing work has been done on the images. Failing to provide miliboo and/or Collins Ryàn – L’artiste such copy will revoke your winning spot, and the decision will be final.
      
      To make sure what RAW file means: RAW files are files that created through the camera and are NOT in formats such as JPG/JPEG, TIF, and so on. Camera manufacturers has different RAW file types’ names, so You have to make sure that the original photo entries were shot as RAW files, despite the submission of the entries is made with the JPG/JPEG counterparts.
      
      Supplying the RAW files also enables miliboo and/or Collins Ryàn – L’artiste to use the winning images as part of the promotion of the competition, the competition winners, and in the promotion of the following years’ competitions.
   3. Image size:
      Image/video sizes should be up to the limit that the Facebook platform allows.
   4. Image/video by camera only:
      The images that You submit MUST NOT be created by other person, or by a computer source (for example – no AI images are permitted, not even partially).  
   5. Post editing or correction work:
      The images that You submit MUST NOT be substantially worked on in a post-editing software of any kind. Apart from white-balance correction, cropping of the image, and changing from coloured images to Black-and-white ones (if desired) – all other post-editing changes are forbidden. In case that either miliboo or Collins Ryàn – L’artiste assume that there was a more substantial post-editing work on the images (following the check of the RAW files), all of your submitted entries will then be deemed as non-participating. The decision is final.
      
      In case that you have actually performed a correction work on the image using any type of post-editing app or software, You MUST inform in writing what type of correction work You have done on each image you enter.

 

4. In case of infringement of rules:
   You understand and agree that You will fully indemnify miliboo if you have been found infringing any terms and conditions of this competition. Indemnification will be returning the prize from miliboo back to miliboo through a signature-required shipment. In such case You will have to pay for the shipping fees and make sure that the prize that You return is in immaculate working and cosmetic conditions. If the prize has been returned not in its original condition, You will have to indemnify miliboo by the RRP of the product you won. RRP will be determined by the price of the product as sold by miliboo’s store in Amazon.com

 
Categories:
You may enter a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of five (5) images per category. Categories are:

1. Landscape (international);
2. street photography(international);
3. one short video project, (international; strictly up to 300 seconds long);
4. Astrophotography (international);
5. Black-and-White (international);
6. Special category: New Zealand or China landscape (strictly for CITIZENS of New Zealand and/or Mainland China)

Citizens of New Zealand (North Island and South Island only) and/or Mainland China may also participate in all of the rest of categories. The rest of the world may participate only in the international categories.
Entries MUST NOT contain any religious, war, race-related, political, or hate meaning to any group or country, religion, sexual-orientation, or anything that may deem as harassment.
Miliboo and Collins Ryàn – L’artiste’s decision is final.
 
You may enter images in multiple categories, however you are unable to submit any image into the competition more than once. If you submit any given image more than once in one or more categories, then all other entries of yours, irrelevant to what category they are submitted in, will be regarded as non-entries.
The decision is final.
 
 
Judgement of the work:
Entries will be judged by the Head judge, Mr. Collins Ryàn – L’artiste, who supervises a set of judges in the early stage of white-listing. Judging will be taking place between 10^th of January, 2024 and 31^st of January, 2024.
From the white-list, a shortlist of up to three (3) photographers from each category will be selected by Mr. Collins Ryàn – L’artiste. The short-listed photographers will be announced on Facebook. The announced photographers will then need to make a contact with miliboo through sales@miliboo.cn, giving their email address details, phone number, and physical address in case that they win in the competition.
 
In the early stages of the competition upon exclusive discretion, Collins Ryàn – L’artiste may decide to delegate to a group of professionals to grade the submitted entries. The number of the shortlisted entries will then be further shrunk by Collins Ryàn – L’artiste, and ultimately will be carefully examined for final judgement.
 
 
From the short-listed list of photographers, the winners will receive a private message through Facebook, and then on either email or SMS text as mentioned earlier. The announcement of the winners will be prior to May 2024.
You accept that the decision of miliboo and Collins Ryàn – L’artiste is final.
 
 
 
Any entry that You submit in the competition must conform with those conditions:

1. You are the only owner and author of each one of your entries.
2. You acknowledge that the competition is based on the Facebook platform and the posting on the Facebook platform is in line with the privacy terms and conditions made by the Facebook platform, and that miliboo (China) and Collins Ryàn – L’artiste (New Zealand) are in no way liable if You submit any given image, especially if the image/s is/are not adhering to the Facebook platform terms and conditions. No compensation whatsoever will be given to any participant in such case that the latter does not adhere to the competition rules AND the Facebook platform.
3. NEVER submit an entry with any identifiable logo/s, trademarks, company names, or the like known marketing items. For example, those prohibited identifiable logo/s, trademarks, company names, or the like known marketing items could be either Yours or other official, registered company or companies.
4. NEVER submit any entry with a watermark.
5. miliboo and Collins Ryàn – L’artiste do not permit submitting any contravening, intimidating, unsettling, false, pornographic, deceptive, rude, offensive, criminal, antisemitic, anti-religion, anti-secular, anti-LGBTQ, racist, slanderous, improper, violent, profane content, or a content of people who have passed-away since the day that you took the image/s and/or the video.
6. Should the Facebook platform have or will have included additional restrictions in their posting rules, then the latter are to be added to the above-mentioned list of restrictions.
7. If You do not hold the full copyrights to all components of your images/videos (including, but not limited to objects being shot/filmed, names, materials etc.) then your entries may not participate in the competition, and you may be liable to an infringement of rights by the intellectual rights’ owner/s of the image/video in question.
8. If any of your images and/or video contains identifiable face/s of person/s, You hereby declare that each of those people that are identifiable in the entry/ies has given their full permission to be presented in the image/s and/or video as shown. Any object in the image/s and/or video that is not your own property must be permitted in writing to be shot or filmed for this competition. You understand that in case of infringing any copyright laws of any country, You may be liable to defend yourself against the rightful copyrights owner/s. Neither miliboo, nor Collins Ryàn – L’artiste takes any responsibility in case that You misled miliboo and/or Collins Ryàn – L’artiste.
9. You understand and agree that You alone must indemnify any person that is depicted in your image/s and/or video for any violation of any of their rights.  

 
 
Exhibition and promotion:
Exhibition of any of the entries, both online and on physical prints, on either miliboo or Collins Ryàn – L’artiste’s websites, social media and other channels is hereby fully granted by You, the image/video submitter, in order to use the material for the promotion of this competition in both 2023 and 2024.
In case that either miliboo or Collins Ryàn – L’artiste chooses to use one or more of your entries for the above purpose, your name will get the credit. The name to be displayed in the credit line is the same name that is shown on your Facebook profile through which you have submitted the entry/ies. In a very rare occasion that we mistakenly have not provided the credit line, this will not be deemed as a breach of copyrights. Once You officially pay our attention to the mistake, we will endeavour to add the credit line within 5 working days. Regarding any matter involving the usage of your images, all official correspondence should be undertaken solely with miliboo.  
 
 
Liability:
miliboo and/or Collins Ryàn – L’artiste and/or any of their related employees, companies, or business or familial connections will not take any liability to the truthfulness of the images, or to the claims of having full copyrights by the entry submitters. If a submitter falsely submitted an image or video without owning the full copyrights to the work in question, the submitter may require compensating the lawful copyright owners.
 
Prizes:
There are no cash prizes! Prizes are miliboo’s professional camera tripod gear products.
Prizes are non-transferable.
 
 
Identity:
Submit ONLY with a profile containing your real name as written in the national identification certificate of your country. We WILL require you to prove your identity for us before we send You the prize.
If You are unable to provide miliboo within 5 working days with a proof of your real name as shown on your Facebook profile (through which You have submitted your images/video), then your winning spot will be revoked and be granted to the next best image/video.
The decision is final.

Collins is a well-known professional photographer, artist, international photography tutor, author of photography books, reviewer, critic, and multiple brands’ international ambassador.

Collins’ main specialization is in drama. His work is known for its significant dramatic appeal, with increased shadows and lights emphasis, instead of simply seeking the lights in the images.
